A.C.I. Takes 1st and 2nd at Nov OWELS

We put two teams into Nov. 21st OWELS event at Action Acres Paintball in Canby, OR and with the help of our Awesome coach Kevin Lillison, we played incredibly well all day. The Black team with Michael Cleveland, Tony Kallianis, and Kris Tryber started out the day winning our first four games. The Green team with Bryan Hart, Gil Herrera, and Josh Harwood, started out a little rougher losing their first two games, but quickly turning the day around and coming back with the 1st place finish. We both had great fun, and it looks like we'll be seeing everybody in the Open Division in 2010.

I was looking forward to this game for months and nothing was going to stop me from showing up at EMR Paintball for Castle Conquest XXVII. I flew out from Washington and arrived Friday afternoon.
I wasnt the only one who flew across the nation to take part in the largest, most exciting attack/defend game in paintball. Teams from Oregon, Washington, and Alaska and many points much closer made the trip to try their luck at defending the one-acre Castle with Team Voodoo and Blues Crew. The weather couldnt be better for the event nothing but blue skies, bright sun and a slight breeze to keep the temperatures in the 80s feeling comfortable.

I was trying out a new brand of paintball shoe from Inov8, and the mesh on the lowtop sneakers kept my feet cool throughout the game, while the rubber bottoms really dug into the paintslicked Castle floor. I also put one of the new Hammerhead MoFo carbon fiber barrels on the marker I borrowed from a friend I was traveling light this trip.
As the defending teams gathered in the castle you could feel the energy from all the players waiting for the time to go. The whistle blew and the paint started to fly. As a defender rushing in and out of the castle walls, you hear the attackers paint coming full speed. I remember slamming against the walls to dodge enemy fire and seeing some of my less fortunate teammates covered from head to toe, just because they ran into the wrong place at the right time for the attackers to get a shot—or ten—on them.
Greg Red Hastings, and Misdirected Hostilities worked hard defending the West side wall with the help of Able Company Immortals. it was so hard to see from all the spray of paint coming of the bunkers, Hastings said. They had five guys stacked up, lying on the ground shooting in different lanes at the main entrance out of the west wall.
We all ran along the top of the wall taking down attackers as they tried to get closer. There were many times you would run out of paint or air before you would ever get hit. I remember running out of paint and, frustrated, I walked back to the dead zone getting hit from so many people coming up the side of the hill.
But no matter how hard the attackers pushed they couldn’t penetrate the West wall! We just didn’t let them in. The defenders on the other sides had equal success, pushing the Attackers out every time they got close. When the Attackers did penetrate a wall, with the corner between walls three and four going down first, the Defenders pushed them out before they good do much damage. With experienced Defenders, a strong plan and paint that shot great, the Defenders held the Castle for four long hours to win it.
Next up, for both me and Hastings, along with Smart Parts’ Sean Scott leading the Smart Corps is SuperGame XXXVII at SniperzDen Paintball in St. Paul, Oregon on May 1 - 3. The game is produced by Warpaint International and promises a weekend of fun with camping available, a player’s feast, and two days and one night of Big Game fun.

Castle Conquest XXVII
Castle Conquest was a LOT of fun. Maybe the most intense paintball we've ever played.
It was interesting playing with East Coast people. There was RAMPANT cheating/wiping by the attackers (particularly the New Yorkers, lol) but counteracting it were easily the best group of referees we as a squad have EVER seen. Those guys were on top of everything, decisive and firm, had NO ego problems but at the same time were AWESOME about jumping right in and pulling out someone who had been hit. They were downright helpful, which was refreshing and really made the game a lot of fun.
The game is well run, the architecture of the re-insertion/dead box is something I'd like to see incorporated into the NW games. Overall just a fabulous, intense, fun, amazing day of paintball.
We paired up with the East Coast squad Misdirected Hostilities and ran with them most of the day, hung out with them at their bunkhouse and they were gracious, fantastic hosts and GREAT guys to play paintball with. Talented, fun, funny group of guys.

Sniperz Den / Supergame Work Day March 5th

Well, after a lot of long days at the field over the last two weeks, we're really starting to see the field come along. From building structures, to clearing paths, and making roads, it's all coming together. Thank you to Greg, and his dad Dick for all their hard work. The picture of the big tractor above is Dick clearing roads through the property, that tractor makes very short work of road building, he cleared about 200 yards of road in about half an hour. Greg has been working hard building the main fort, with some help from his friends, and several guys from OK Company. A.C.I. has been out the last two weeks building the other structures on the field. There is still a lot of hard work to be done, but the field honestly looks way different than it did just a short two weeks ago. We look forward to seeing everybody at Dan's work days on Mach 22nd and April 11th.

Greg Hastings Tournament Paintball 2

A.C.I. just got back from Seattle Saturday night after being invited by the man himself to come play the long awaited GHTP2 game. We were playing on the XBox 360 console, and man I have to say this is going to be one of the coolest first person shooters, let alone paintball specific video games EVER. Can't talk about the details as the game is still in development, but I can say I don't think anybody is going to be disappointed by this one. And if you're one of those people who don't play the current paintball games because they're all Speed Ball, you'll love the 15 actual woodsball fields from around the globe, and all the real life characters you can choose to play as.
We also did an interview with Paintball Sports Magazine about the game, so look for that in coming issues if you want to see some game details Greg will be releasing.
